Understandably, most people begin imagining floor plans long before they consider engaging an architect. Yet one of the biggest misconceptions we encounter is that the land should be purchased first and the architect consulted later. In reality, the opposite can often lead to a far better outcome. The right block of land doesn't simply allow you to build a house. It allows you to build the right house.

It's one of the first questions almost every client asks—and understandably so. There is a common perception that hiring an architect means handing over a wish list, waiting several weeks and then being invited back to view a beautifully presented design. For some practices, that's exactly how the process works. It has never felt right to us. Your home is one of the most significant investments you'll ever make. More importantly, it's where birthdays will be celebrated, children will grow up, quiet mornings will begin and family traditions will unfold for decades to come.
